Synopsis
This is one of a series in which each book contains flaps and fold-outs, and is accompanied by a sheet of reusable stickers. Focusing on the forests of the world, this book examines their primitive beginnings, and how they have adapted to climactic change and evolved to their present state. It explains how to identify various species of trees, and studies their life cycles and their many inhabitants, the important role they play in the ecosystem, and the richness of woodland flora and fauna. The book also features a chapter on the 150 ethnic groups which live as hunter-gatherers in the heart of the tropical forest, and discusses the threat of deforestation, acid rain, fire and pollution.
