Synopsis

This special gift edition brings together one of the most beautiful renderings of the Hebrew Bible in the English language with a wealth of Jewish art and imagery.

Bound in blue cloth with a gold-embossed front cover, this five-colour production features seventy-four illustrations — including ancient frescoes, medieval illuminated manuscripts, and works by contemporary artists from around the world — that enhance the epic events recounted therein.

A synoptic contents list has been added to the beginning of each of the Torah’s five books to help the reader locate the better-known events and their themes. Also included are excerpts of Hebrew text as they appear in the Torah scroll for several significant passages.

The text selected is the classic 1917 Jewish Publication Society translation, which majestically brings the history of the Jewish people to life.

This edition would grace any home and makes an ideal gift for any rite of passage.
