A rural story set in Devon, with parts in local dilect, covering the life in a village and including char Acters such as the Squire and his lady, the Vicar, and many other personalities. It shows the life in a typical village, when the Squire ruled and life went on around him. Gamekeepers, poachers, animals, birds and other inhabitants of the area are woven into the tale. How life has changed since those far off days and some readers will wonder if they would have been better off than the existence of the present day. There is a rather sad ending.Cancels previous editions. Please amend your records where appropriate. 12 colour
