Synopsis

Continuing a project to bring the best in UK short fiction to readers around the world, Bracket is the latest in an acclaimed series of short story anthologies that includes Comma and Hyphen. Bringing together 20 of the UK's most innovative, fresh, and previously unpublished writers ranging from recent creative writing graduates to writers already established in other fields, the collection bristles with diverse voices, from the comic to the tragic and the ambiguous spaces in between. From the cliffs of Flamborough Head to high-rise, inner-city madness; from lost loves to the last days of civilization--the varied settings and scenarios in these stories captivate and unsettle in equal measure. These are stories written in the dark, spoken without much hope of being heard, but all the time striving for intimacy.
