A brutally honest first hand account of a British soldier's experiences on a four month tour of duty in Northern Ireland at the height of the 'Troubles.' Green and idealistic, the author and the men of the Royal Artillery found themselves up against the harsh realities of a sectarian war. On the orders of the British Government they became involved in the arrest and internment of 300 suspected IRA terrorists and were posted to keep guard at what they were told was a top secret communications centre. Their belief in their cause were shaken to the core by the sound of screaming from within. By turns fascinating and shocking, this book is bound to cause a sensation. Your views on British policy in Ireland will never be the same again. Ray Derrick's experiences and his revelation of the torture of the suspects by the British, shattered his faith in the system that trained him.
