Synopsis

The Fourth Cart is a story of adventure and greed set in gangland London, Vietnam and Tibet. At the heart of the book is the story of Keith Gibson, a Ph.D student doing research in Tibet in the 1950's. He lives with the monks and becomes a friend of the Dalai Lama. When the Chinese army moves in to crush Tibetan independence, Gibson is involved with the plot to rescue the Lama and his treasures in four ordinary carts and take them to sanctuary in India. Imprisoned by the Chinese, Gibson harbours a secret - only he knows what happened to the fourth cart. Nick Price is a reformed East London thug now running a bar in Bangkok. Keith Gibson is one of his regulars, but for years no one has taken his extraordinary story seriously. The arrival one evening of a mysterious German gem dealer casts Gibson in a new light and sets in motion an adventure that will lead them all to unbelievable riches and the prospect of a terrible death.
