Synopsis

Soul Mates is a heart-warming tale of love against the odds, which wonderfully evokes the harsh, bigoted environment of the Irish backwoods in the 1960's. As the book opens, the young hero Jason and heroine Tilly have been cruelly separated when their secret love affair becomes public due to Tilly's pregnancy. Jason is forced to flee to Australia, after an attempted drowning. Once in Australia his fortunes improve significantly when a millionaire adopts him. Tilly has her baby in a repressive institution, but escapes with her son by foot across Ireland to reach a kindly family in England. Eventually Tilly and Jason are reunited, but they also work to bring their old oppressors to justice for their crimes. Soul Mates is packed with wonderfully drawn characters - both good and evil. The exciting plot abounds with the unexpected and the conclusion satisfyingly combines the triumph of enduring love and the sweetness of revenge.
