The Rough Guide to Chicago is an honest, detailed guide to this quintessential American city. There is full coverage of all the neighbourhoods, including the downtown Loop with its prominent skyline, and ethnic enclaves like Greektown and Pilsen. A fresh perspective is given on the main sights, from the Art Institute of Chicago to the shops on Michigan Avenue and the Frank Lloyd Wright houses in Oak Park. There are copious listings, covering restaurants, nightlife and accommodation for all budgets, plus where to hear authentic Chicago blues and engage in local pastimes like rooting for the doomed Cubs baseball team. The guide includes excursions to the North Shore.
