Synopsis

Beautifully Illustrated by former Warwickshire cricket captain Jim Troughton, this book tells two stories. The first is the warming tale of a young boy about to play in his first cricket match, and how he finds the strength to conquer his nerves. Interwoven into this first story is the one that inspires young Alex on the eve of his first match. It is the legend of Morvidus, the ancient Lord of Warwickshirc and King of the Britons. The legend of Morvidus gives us the enduring symbol of the ragged staff, still memorably placed on the Warwickshire cricket shirt and worn with pride by Warwickshire cricket players of all ages. All royalties from this book will be given directly to the Warwickshire Cricket Board to support youth cricket projects at all age groups and levels.
