Synopsis

This is the official book of the drama which returns to television in September 1996. Created by Lynda La Plante and starring Helen Mirren as Dectective Chief Inspector Jane Tennison, the series broke the mould of television female detectives. The book starts with an introduction written by the actress, and then goes on to an in-depth interview about her role and her career. An interview with Lynda La Planted reveals the woman behind the series (real-life DCI Jackie Malton), and leads on to detailed plot synopses and character listings for each programme. Illustrated throughout with exclusive photographs from the sets of all "Prime Suspect" series, the book also contains a detailed assessment of the film and theatre career of the main star.
