SIGNED BY AUTHOR, RALF OBERGFELL, without dedication or inscription on title-page. Profusely illustrated with colour photographs. A book whish focuses on the design, cultural and social aspects of the London Transport AEC Routemaster bus. A design classic and an international symbol of London, the Routemaster bus became a landmark in itself, a global icon you could ride to work. The Routemaster entered service in 1959 and was a fixture of of the capital's streets for half a century before its withdrawal from regular service at the end of 2005 - a decision that outraged thousands of the bus's admirers in Britain and around the world. Drawn from hundreds of images gathered over the Routemaster's final eighteen months of service, the book is a celebration of the unique role the bus played in London life. It has been permanently archived by the British Library in the interest of national heritage. The d/w has a small circular sticker 'Signed by the author' on the front panel.
