Mary Bailey has been keeping tropical fishes for more than 25 years, and is known internationally as an expert on the cichlid family. She writes regularly for fishkeeping magazines in the UK and overseas, as well as being a contributor to and co-editor of the Cichlids Yearbook series and English editor of aqua geographia magazine. She has one earlier book on fishkeeping to her credit: The Ultimate Aquarium, co-written by Gina Sandford. She lives in the wilds of the Devon countryside with her fishes, cats, and horse.
