Synopsis

A changing market has frequently compelled users of steam plant to operate off-design, to undertake hardware modifications, or to do both. Proposals to modify plant and its operation need to be evaluated at a conceptual stage and this must be followed by revised training for plant operators, possibly using simulation. Computer modelling is an essential pre-requisite for exploring the capability of existing plant and for assessing its use for new regimes of steady-state or transient operation.
