This Compendium, presented by Pope Benedict XVI, is a synthesis of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. It contains, in concise form, all the essential and fundamental elements of the Church's faith ... In structure, contents and language, the Compendium faithfully reflects the Catechism of the Catholic Church . It should assist in making the Catechism more widely known and more deeply understood... Most directly suited to religious teachers, faith community leaders and others interested in concise, up-to-date catechism answers. --Review by Catholic Ireland.Net

The regular Catechism is of a size and nature to make difficult reading for many. Here, however, is what every family should have at hand in the home: the long-looked for epitome, which should replace the little green catechism introduced by the Hierarchy in the early 1950s, which still retains its hold over the minds of many. The Holy Father in his former role saw to its preparation; and he now writes of it in words that cannot be improved on. --Review by Father Stephen Redmond SJ appeared in the Irish Catholic 8 June 2006.

The Compendium - Catechism of the Catholic Church in its recently published user-friendly format will go some way towards combating both malice and ignorance as well as providing a readily accessible source for the most significant elements of church teaching. Pope Benedict XVI presents the Compendium as a faithful and sure synthesis of the bulkier Catechism containing as Pope Benedict declares all the essential and fundamental elements... which allows believers and non-believers alike to behold the entire panorama of the Catholic faith. The new publication restores the dialogical format of master and disciple and includes artistic images...that also communicate the gospel message. --Review appeared in Intercom, November 2006
