Synopsis

All competitive athletes want to perform to the best of their ability and so try to prepare themselves for competitions as well as they possibly can. Training strategies designed to improve technique and speed, as well as psychological components, are all of crucial importance. However, it should never be forgotten that sport is carried out within an 'environment' and that athletes who fail to prepare themselves for the environment in which they will compete do so at their peril.
