In December 2019, UK homeless charity Shelter estimated that the number of people in England who were entirely homeless or in temporary accommodation was 280,000. A huge increase from the number estimated 10 years prior. This book explores different types of homelessness and the reasons people can end up in that situation. It also shares personal stories from those who have experienced homelessness and looks at the efforts being made to tackle this growing problem. Issues publications are intended as a photocopiable, cross-curricular educational resource exploring contemporary social issues in an accessible format, for teachers and students age 11 and above (Key Stage 3 & 4).
