Synopsis

The Protestant Reformation brought the Holy Bible into the hands of millions of people, impacting the doctrines widely taught in those times and in nearly every aspect of life. The Protestant Reformation was foreshadowed by the translation of earlier vernacular Bibles, the invention of the printing press, and a renewed interest in the Greek language. Luther's nailing of the 95 Theses on the door of Wittenberg Church in 1517 instigated the start of the Reformation, and his later translation of the German Bible in 1534 propelled it forward. In the following years, many European languages began to have their own portions of the translated Scriptures.

This short booklet traces the history of the Protestant Reformation and the translation of the Bible during those years. This book is also available for free as a PDF download on our website, www.tbsbibles.org/TheProtestantReformation
