Julia Masters was born in England and has lived in Australia from the age of four. She briefly pursued a legal career before taking up farming and writing. She and her husband live on a property in the south-east of South Australia, producing merino and cross-bred wool, prime lambs and beef cattle. Five years of Julia's life were spent in infertility treatment, and this book spans the years from the Masters' marriage to the end of their involvement in the in-vitro fertilisation program.
