Synopsis
Challenging the concept that conscious thinking is an attribute unique to humans, this work examines animal behaviour along with the structure and functioning of the brain to give an understanding of how animals think. Scientific evidence for the existence of thinking and awareness in birds and other animals is presented. The importance of animal thinking to the widely debated issues of animal welfare and animal rights is also considered.

À propos de l?auteur
Author of over 200 scientific papers and a number of books, Lesley Rogers is Professor of Neuroscience and Animal Behaviour at the University of New England. In 1987 the University of Sussex awarded her a Doctor of Science on the basis of her many years of research into the development of brain and behaviour.
