New Zealand based Professor Valery Feigin, MD, MSc, PhD, is currently neurologist and Senior Research Fellow at the Clinical Trials Research Unit, The University of Auckland, New Zealand. Dr Feigin is a founding member and current chairman of two Scientist Panels of the European Federation of Neurological Societies. He has written approximately 200 scientific articles in various aspects on stroke, including a WHO handbook and a number of guidelines for doctors. He has worked for several years in the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA and in the University Department of Neurology, Utrecht, The Netherlands. The Handbook of Stroke (1997) co-authored by DO Wiebers, VL Feigin, RD Brown Jr, has been officially accepted at the Mayo Clinic as a textbook for medical students and postgraduates and has been translated into five languages.
