About the book >.>.> There were two critical periods in my formation: the first was my schooling at the University of Tucuman, which was extraordinary, with great intellectual effervescence. At Illinois, there was no comparison. I was much better prepared than anyone there. I had a solid understanding of the principles of the Modern movement and I knew how to use theoretical constructs to design with-that's perhaps why my professor was impressed with me and recommended me to his friend John Dinkeloo, who offered me a job with Saarinen. This was most important in my development. It is one thing to get trained in a school where you learn what architecture is about. but another to become an architect. In one you learn theories about swimming, but in the other you have to jump in the water and swim and are properly coached. This is what happened with Saarinen. Good, sometimes great architecture was being done there and we were part of it. All that it takes to produce good architecture was there, open to our eyes. It.
