The post- baby conversation is a first: a relationship book for new parents. It is not a book about babies and it's not about how to be a parent. It's about how to be a happy couple after the arrival of children. Most couples experience relationship issues with the arrival of a new baby. A conversation about how responsibilities and the workload of a new baby will be shared, what will happen on weekends and whose job it is to cook and clean can be a source of great tension. When a modern couple become parents, both men and women develop expectations of what their partner should do and provide, often based on outdated traditional stereotypes; and many couples co-exist unhappily for years.

À propos de l'auteur
Alison Osborne is a mother of two children and has a First Class Honours degree in Rural Science from the University of New England and has completed environmental law and psychology units and commenced a PhD at the Institute for Sustainable Futures. She travelled overseas on a Nuffield Scholarship in 1997, studying environmental issues relating to agriculture. She has extensive experience in facilitation and mediation and has additional training in life coaching.

The author draws not only on her personal experiences but interviews over 100 people including couples with children, stay-at home dads, separated men and women as well as professional psychologists and relationship counsellors. Men might also feel intense financial pressure as they often become the sole income earner. They are getting less sex, less exercise and less time with their mates and so their usual methods of stress release are inadequate. The author encourages couples to create something new and to learn new ways of relating to each other.
