Biographie de l'auteur

(www.susanart.net) In 1963-1964, as a college sophomore, Susan traveled on the first shipboard university through Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. One of the electives she choose was the study of the raising of children in these parts of the world. For 50 years now she has found this subject one of the most fascinating, and surely one of the most important, she has ever encountered, and she feels as though she is just beginning to unravel the mysteries of growing up human. So please do not take the ideas presented here as a final word on the subject. On these pages the author attempts to demonstrate that children all over the world have the same needs in order to thrive, and that these needs are inherent and have been universally observed. Also, since she is often asked for suggestions on how others can share Montessori as she does both at home and abroad, she explains some of the things she has learned about teaching others—parents, educators, anyone interested—about Montessori. Susan is grateful that so many people have asked for her Montessori congress presentation to be shared in book form. And she hopes that this little publication will benefit you in some way on your path working with children.
