V. Vale has been publishing countercultural interviews for over 40 years with his first punk tabloid, Search & Destroy, then RE/Search. He lives and works in San Francisco

William S. Burroughs' writing career spanned both decades and continents. Best known for his "cut ups" and for "Naked Lunch" (made into a major motion picture directed by David Cronenberg), with the help of Allen Ginsberg, his short "routines" (short narrative vignettes) became novels.

Brion Gysin was a writer, painter, collage artist and inventor (i.e. of the Dream Machine). A close associate of William S. Burroughs, he was the original inventor of "cut-ups", a writing tool extensively utilized by Burroughs.
