In the early nineties, academic Austin Mardon was given the opportunity of a lifetime. He was invited to the thriving metropolis of Moscow to lecture and embark on an expedition to the little-known island of Franz Josef Land. His visit, however, would be interrupted by a suspicious Soviet intelligence agency. The experience tested the boundaries of his sanity, and would prove to have a life-long affect.
