Synopsis

A spoof guide to all things Scottish, combining cartoons and text to present a garbled, muddled but affectionate version of Scottish affairs in a similar vein to 1066 And All That. Parading as a plain man's guide to All Things Caledonian, this brilliantly illustrated book sends up the traditional misty-eyed Brigadoon view of Scotland with all its tartan biscuit tins and bow-tied Scotty dog postcards. Besley turns his eye on geography, climate, natural history, the arts, sport , the economy, whisky, touring , clans and the language with the same unfailing squint.
