This book "is a compilation of the fishing articles of Gilbert Tew, originally published in the Fishing Gazette, Country Sportsman, Angler's Monthly, The Field and other sporting journals. After studying at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, Tew joined the Indian Civil Service so that he could fish for mahseer. He stayed in Burma for twenty-five years, returning to fish for trout in England. This book offers a unique insight into angling during and between two world wars and is enhanced by additional commentary, from his late daughter, the respected anthropologist, Professor Mary Douglas (1921-2007)." Chapters include: The idea of the angler; The angler in Burma; The way of a trout with a fly; Artificial flies; Care of the river; The angler at home; The myth of the sporting fish - an anthropologist's view by Mary Douglas. Douglas also contributes a biography of her father, Gilbert Tew, 1884-1951. The book was unfortunately printed with the ISBN of another Medlar Press book, The Golden Game Fair. The correct ISBN for Being Fair to Trout is 9781899600816. . N° de réf. du vendeur 20707
