Revue de presse

Sadly overshadowed by many other Fords from both pre- and post-war periods, and moving budget motoring onto a more sophisticated footing than some of the toot foisted on the British motoring public, the poor little Model Y deserved far more recognition than it received until Sam Roberts' book was published. Like Thacker's '32 title, this looks at the reasons behind the car's creation, how its design evolved, the various body types and the more peculiar versions, including a tiny bus, a tipper and a three-wheeled 'tug' version. The vans are stunning, and Roberts' book is crammed full of illustrations and drawings, one of the best being the shot (on page 188) of a Ford dealer workshop in Southsea in 1948. And like all cars, there were several key people behind their concept and eventual production, and the author looks at them. He also looks at the plants that assembled the Y around the globe. --Review from Classic Ford, May 2008
