Présentation de l'éditeur

In the 14th edition of our much-loved guide there are many places new to us, some of them set in gorgeous countryside, but also more townhouses and more B&Bs built by younger folk experimenting with a change in lifestyle. You get more independence, for that is what the owners like themselves, and they are often greener too. If you’re after outstanding architecture, inspiring views, beautiful interiors or memorable friendliness you will be spoilt for choice. This guide contains something for everyone – from families with children to young lovers, peace-seekers, beach bums and gardeners. We include only places that we truly like and have built up a large and loyal band of owners and readers who trust our judgement.

Biographie de l'auteur

Alastair has built a team of talented editors who are as committed as he is to the search for authenticity and personality in places to stay. They are also ‘driving’ the world’s first carbon ‘neutral’ publishing company; the search for a reduced ecological footprint is a serious one. The company has won The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Sustainable Development category, an award from Business Commitment to the Environment and a Green Apple Award and moved to its own eco-offices in January 2006. Nicola Crosse also edits our ‘Bed and Breakfast for Garden Lovers’ guide. She brings to a demanding job an irrepressible affection for people and places and has a clear sense of what makes a place special.
