Synopsis

"We knew nothing about the wilderness, but in a way that was our greatest strength... We would probably fail daily and eventually have to give up, but true failing for us, would have been to not even try." Told with warmth and humour, this is the compelling account of a young couple who give up a comfortable life in England to start a new one in the wilderness of the Yukon. They revel in the stark beauty of the landscape and rise to the challenges that confront them - crossing frozen rivers, mushing huskies, hunting caribou, facing bears, avoiding wolves and building their own log cabin from the materials around them. This story will convince readers to stop putting their dreams on hold. Be prepared to be inspired...

À propos de l'auteur

At 16, Dorian Amos left school and worked as a gamekeeper. He went on to follow a three-year course in wildlife conservation, during which time in the long lectures, he discovered his talent for cartooning. Soon after graduating, Dorian married his wife Bridget. Dorian then set up a successful cartooning business in Polperro, Cornwall. However, they both felt life becoming far too easy, and one day, on a whim, he and Bridget decided to emigrate to the Canadian wilderness. It was then that their lives really began. Today, they are still there, living in the wild with their son Jack Julian and more recently, daughter, Jesse. Since writing this book, they have set up the first distillery in the Yukon, producing Klondike Vodka.
