Synopsis

As a veterinary student approaches the end of training, and then starts that first job in practice, there is a sense not only of achievement and fulfilment but also of terror and self-doubt. Few of us will ever again be as knowledgeable about all aspects of the care, diseases and treatment of horses, cows, sheep, pigs, cats and dogs as we were at the time of graduation. Unfortunately, there is a seventh species to contend with: the clients. The easiest way to look good to clients and instill confidence in them is to be older, but most graduates are going to have to wait a while to achieve this. This book provides advice and food for thought in the pitfall-strewn field of client management. By approaching and discussing various aspects of client handling and behaviour, it should help readers deal with the greatest challenge in veterinary practice.

À propos de l?auteur

Carl Gorman qualified from Bristol Veterinary School in the days before Langford graduates went into careers in television. Forced into general practice, in 1989 he and his wife Suzanne bought a clinic in the south of England which has flourished. He has a range of interests, some of which are veterinary related, including comparative client and animal behaviour. Having decided that writing was a good excuse for obtaining computer equipment and software, he is the author of The Ageing Dog, and together with Suzanne, of the booklet Golden Years.
