This book was commissioned by the Higher Education Academy Subject Centres for Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism (HLST), and Business, Management, Accountancy and Finance (BMAF), with funding from HEFCE. Hosted by Oxford Brookes University, HLST and BMAF are two of the 24 national subject centres who work collaboratively to enhance the student experience by brokering the sharing of good practice across the UK.

The editors Nina Becket is Assistant Director of the Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism Subject Centre, responsible for leading the network's academic development work. Prior to taking on this role, Nina was Undergraduate Programme Director in the Department of Hotel and Restaurant Management at Oxford Brookes. Patsy Kemp has work experience within the public and private sectors, in business training, language teaching, project management and management consultancy. As Academic Developer for the Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism Subject Centre, she works to support practitioners in their roles within Higher Education.
