Synopsis

Over the centuries there have been many waves of immigrants (or aliens as they are often described in official documentation) arriving in Britain. From medieval times Jews, Huguenots and many religious minorities escaping from persecution have made their home in this country. Roger Kershaw is Manager of the Modern Records Information Service at The National Archhives. He is the co-author of Immigrants and Aliens, a guide to sources on UK immigration and citizenship. Mark Pearsall joined The National Archives in 1986. In 1997, he was awarded an MA in Archives and Record Management.
