This guidebook, now in its third edition, focuses on the area of Cornwall around the Lizard peninsula reaching from Helston, Loe Bar and Porthleven in the west, to the southern banks of the Helford River and Falmouth Bay in the east. Walking in Cornwall is a hugely popular activity. This guidebook covers the whole coast path along with many inland and riverside walks, which are illustrated by detailed maps, instructions and photographs. The Lizard coastline has picture postcard harbours like Mullion, Cadgwith and Coverack as well as the long sandy beaches at Poldhu, Gunwalloe and Kennack Sands. The famously beautiful Kynance Cove with its magnificent serpentine cliffs is close to Lizard Point the most southerly point in Britain. The lighthouse here protects ships from infamous Man O War reef. Further round the coast between Porthallow and Porthoustock, lie the Manacles - the graveyard of numerous ships and now a thriving centre for wreck diving. FRIENDLY GUIDES was set up in 1992. Partners Neil Reid and Caroline Schanche were both born and brought up in Cornwall. Much of the information in the guides is based on their own favourite places and on great days out with children, families and friends. A business that started with a hand drawn map of the Isles of Scilly has now grown to become Cornwall s leading publisher of guidebooks. The idea for the business is simple - we set out to provide the best possible photos, maps and writing for visitors and locals. Using our books should be like going for a walk with a well-informed and entertaining friend.
