Make your home a haven, a unique place that expresses your own personality through the objects you choose to create. In a world where so much is mass-produced, disposable and endlessly replaceable, "Romantic Home Sewing" gives an alternative approach. It shows you step-by-step how you can create beautifully crafted, home-sewn projects that will last, and that will give your home a charm that modern equivalents just can't provide. Created by Christina Strutt, whose fabric company Cabbages & Roses creates vintage-style fabrics and accessories, "Home Made" shows you how to create over 40 step-by-step projects to decorate every room in your house from the kitchen to the bedroom to the garden room, as well as plenty of ideas for the perfect gift. Use old fabrics found in flea markets, or re-use a much-loved dress or curtain fabric - too worn for its original purpose but ideal for making a lavender-scented heart or patchwork throw for the bedroom. Alternatively, you can select from the great range of new 'vintage' fabrics that are now available, echoing the classic prints from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. Christina has made the projects using a certain style of fabric but is at pains to point out that part of the beauty of handmade items is that you can make your own selection of fabrics to create unique pieces. Key selling points: Following in the footsteps of knitting and crochet, sewing is the new must-do craft. It reflects the growing reaction against the mass-produced, and a desire to look back to simpler times. The author runs successful fabric company with two outlets in London and now has several stockists in the US. All her fabrics are available by mail order. Publicity: Major features in "You Magazine", "Country Living", "Homes and Gardens", and "Essentials and Prima".

hardcover. Etat : Good. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing, fanning, inscriptions, margin notes, yellowing, staining on edge or cover or pages, bumps, scuffs, etc etc (sometimes multiple of these). It's a wide category that encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.
