Synopsis

This superb collection of useful, money-saving DIY tips and ideas covers simple electrics, plumbing, painting and decorating, tiling, carpentry and general building work around the home. Chris Jones and Brian Lee have both been tradesmen for over 25 years, so this easy to understand book benefits from their experiences and tricks of the trade. Did you know: a mini glue brush can be made with a ballpoint pen and a piece of string? Hardened paintbrush bristles can be made soft again using hot vinegar? A drop of car wax will keep your steel measuring tape running smoothly? A little black pepper added to fresh putty will stop the birds pecking at it? You can use a comb to hold tacks in place when knocking them in? This book makes DIY fun rather than a chore and is an essential gift for the toolbox of every DIY enthusiast.

A propos du livre

À propos de l'auteur

Chris Jones' interest in DIY started at the age of 6 when he took up the parlour parquet flooring with his first tool kit! He qualified as an electrician over 20 years ago and had a successful electrical contracting business for 14yrs. Chris worked as a demonstrator and adviser for a major DIY store. You may have even seen him on TV! Chris is the real 'family man' and is passing on his DIY knowledge and vast experience to his boys Peter & Mark helped by the endless patience of his wife Cathy. Brian Lee trained as a decorator 35 years ago. After 9 years in the army, Brian developed a passion for crafting useful things out of wood. His job now involves teaching DIY skills (mainly to ladies and children!) with bird tables, nesting boxes and dovecots often being on his project list. Born in Cheshire but now living in Hampshire with his wife Yvonne, Brian is keen on passing on his great DIY know-how to his three grown up children and two grandchildren.
