Paperback. Etat : New. George Best was one of the world's greatest footballers. He joined Manchester United at fifteen, his off-field antics were soon surpassed only by his dazzling skills, and he became the 'fifth Beatle and soccer's bad boy. This collection of quotes and reflections from himself and a multitude of commentators highlights why he can lay claim to this mantle. That Best was just as dexterous with his words as with his soccer ball can be seen from this collection. Quotes are broken down by topic which include: Being George; El Beatle; Gaffers; Misdemeanours and Miss Worlds; Girls Talk; The Booze, Sweats, Palpitations and Panic; Farewell Our Friend, But Not Goodbye; Chronology; and Career Statistics. Sample quotes include: 'I think I've found you a genius.' (Telegram sent to Manchester United by scout Bob Bishop, who discovered 15-year-old Best playing for Cregagh Boys' Club). 'If I'd been born ugly, you'd never have heard of Pele.' 'The closest I got to him was when we shook hands at the end of the game.' (Northampton Town player Roy Fairfax, who had been marking Best when he scored six goals in an 8-2 FA Cup win for Manchester United in 1970.) 'I used to go missing a lot * Miss Canada, Miss United Kingdom, Miss World. N° de réf. du vendeur 0102056
