In 'Catching the Cascade', his long awaited debut collection, Paul Lyalls presents verse that documents his long career as a performing poet, exploring the motifs of childhood, love, consumerism, second hand cars and his native North. His punchy, breathlessly entertaining poetry stems not just from a razor sharp wit but from his genuine love of language.

Paul Lyalls has been writing and performing poetry for over 15 years. In that time he has graced stages worldwide, including the Roskilde festival in Denmark, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, ten Edinburgh festivals, New York, a London bus and Eton College. He joint presented the BBC TV series The Big Slam Poetry House. In 2008 he was Poet for Brent and became the first poet to perform at the new Wembley Stadium. His poetry has appeared in many anthologies and magazines, including Penguin's 'Michael Rosen's A-Z of Childrens Poetry' and 'Velocity - the very best of Apples and Snakes'.
