The Mind Sport of Memory was founded in 1991 by Tony Buzan and Raymond Keene OBE when the first World Memory Championships took place. Today, competitors from around the world compete annually in what has become the world's most gruelling test of memory for the prestigious title of World Memory Champion.

The Memory Yearbook was written by Chris Day and Phil Chambers and has a foreword from the Founder of the Mind Sport of Memory, Tony Buzan. Phil Chambers is the Chief Arbiter for the sport and has overseen almost every major Championship worldwide since it started in 1991. Chris Day is the General Secretary of the World Memory Sports Council, the governing body of the Mind Sport of Memory and also maintains the website, www.worldmemorychampionships.com
