Lawrence Block's novels range from urban noir to urbane effervescence. He was the executive story editor for the TV series TILT. Several of his novels have been filmed. He is a past president of the Private Eye Writers of America and won the Edgar and Shamus awards four times each, as well as the Nero Wolfe and Philip Marlowe awards. He also received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Private Eye Writers of America, and the Diamond Dagger for Life Achievement from the UK Crime Writers' Association.
