James Napier's debut novel RETRIBUTION is a fast-paced, gripping story set largely in the wild lands of Afghanistan. Faultlessly researched, it's a work of sharp detail, a page turner from cover to cover. Andy Mcnab roll over, James Napier has arrived. --Tahir Shah, author of The Caliph's House

Retribution is a great read which adroitly tells the story of a soldier's operational experiences from Northern Ireland to Afghanistan. The writing seems particularly authentic because the author himself was a soldier in South Armagh and he also helped clear minefields in Afghanistan. Clearly James Napier knew the circumstances and ground intimately from the way he writes. That gives the book a great deal of authenticity and colour. What I enjoyed in the book was the relationships between principal characters which is so typical of the very special bonds and affection that often exist between young officers and the men they command. This is a superb first book by James Napier and I completely commend it. --Colonel Bob Stewart DSO

Biographie de l'auteur

James Napier served as an officer in the British Army in the late 1980s and early 1990s, including an operational tour in South Armagh, Northern Ireland. Stints selling caviar in Mayfair, clearing landmines in Afghanistan, gaining an MBA from Edinburgh University, working in the Borders knitwear industry and various start-up companies in London, preceded a move to Norfolk where he has settled with his family and a career in telecoms. He was also educated at Eton and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Retribution is his first published novel. A second novel, also set in Afghanistan and featuring Piers Walker is nearing completion.
