Présentation de l'éditeur

This is a study guide you can use throughout your OCR AS Music course as an effective supplement to your school work. There are clear, helpful introductions to the orchestra works set for study in exams up until January 2012, with discussions of the prescribed movements from Bachs Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D, Mozarts Clarinet Concerto and Schuberts Unfinished Symphony. The authors also introduce the jazz recordings set for the OCR syllabus. The text is illustrated throughout with helpfully annotated music examples to aid explanations of the concepts encountered in the music. Sample exam-style questions at the end of the sections provide exam practice throughout the course. The authors also offer sensible guidance for performing, looking at preparation, what to do on the day and succeeding in the viva voce. A detailed chapter on composing looks at what is involved in Section A: western tonal harmony, and Section B: instrumental techniques. Using this guide will help you focus on what is important in each unit of your AS Music course, and there is plenty of space provided for you to add your own margin notes and comments.
