Synopsis

Vintage Style for Kids is a charming collection of 25 unique designs for children’ s clothes and accessories, developed by Fiona Bell, founder of Their Nibs kids’ clothing brand.

Recognising that the children’ s clothing market was crying out for a vibrant, fresh and inventive alternative to mainstream brands and high street stores, Fiona opened Their Nibs in Notting Hill in 2003. It quickly established itself as a destination shop for parents who want to dress their children as children, with originality and flair. Many of the designs are based on styles from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, and the signature prints – which include Toadstool Fairy, Retro Planes, Butterflies & Carriages, Mermaid, Russian Doll and Pirate- also have a distinctly vintage feel.

Vintage Style for Kids contains selections from Fiona’ s favourite and best-selling designs. In chapters focusing on ‘ Babies’ , ‘ Playtime’ , ‘ Parties’ and ‘ Bedtime’ , she reveals how to make and style many gorgeous garments, from cute babies’ clothes and pretty party dresses to classic shirts and pyjamas.

These beautiful, whimsical designs will appeal to children and adults alike, reminding us of the simple pleasures of a gentler, slower-paced era, when mothers took time and care over making clothes and keepsakes for their children.

Vintage Style for Kids comes complete with cutting patterns on a disc and easy-to-follow instructions.

À propos de l'auteur

Fiona Bell gained a degree in business studies before securing a job in her dream industry: fashion. She worked as a fashion buyer in Sydney, Australia, for several years before moving to London, where she was head of buying for various areas at Laura Ashley. The birth of her son, Finn (affectionately known as €˜his Nibs'), focused her mind on children's clothes and the gap in the market for a more eclectic look than that provided by major brands. In 2003 Fiona opened her first shop, Their Nibs, in London's Notting Hill. As well as the unique range of Their Nibs clothes, accessories and homeware, all produced in the distinctive signature prints, there is also a vintage collection of original retro clothes, which are often the inspiration behind new designs. A second shop opened in 2007 and Their Nibs range of gorgeous clothes is also available from www.theirnibs.com and in various stores and boutiques around the world, including Mothercare, John Lewis, Harrods, Selfridges and Le Bon Marché. Fiona lives in London with her son, Finn, and partner, Charlie.
