Like Jane Austen's Emma, Trinity has been described quite simply as 'rich, handsome and clever'. Though devoted more to the pursuit of learning than of love, Trinity has inspired enduring affection in generations of alumni and Fellows. Now in its fifth century since being refounded by Henry VIII, the College reigns supreme as the largest and wealthiest of the Cambridge colleges.
Plenty has been written about the genesis of the College, its many distinguished alumni and even its finances. However, in the seven decades since the Second World War, generations of Trinity students have witnessed profound changes at an unprecedented pace. À propos de l'auteur
Edward Stourton is a distinguished broadcaster and presenter. In 1976 he came up to Trinity to read English, and in his final year was president of the Cambridge Union Society. John Lonsdale is emeritus professor of modern African history and Fellow of Trinity College. Catharine Walston is freelance editor responsible for a number of publications on Cambridge colleges and institutions, including The University of Cambridge: An 800th Anniversary Portrait.
