Synopsis

The Devils Backbone (2001) is a Gothic story written and directed by Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, 2006) concerning a ghost who haunts the corridors of an isolated orphanage during the Spanish Civil War. Studying The Devils Backbone explores the narrative in relation to the central concerns of film studies: genre, theme, iconography, representation and film language.
