Jason Read graduated from Southampton University in the 1990s with a BA in History, he joined the Royal Navy as a language specialist, travelling the world, speaking and writing Chinese. After the military he studied occultism and magic, initially in the Western Mystery Tradition. He returned to Asia in search of a teacher and met Dr Liang. Apprenticed to the Maoshan sorcerer and martial artist he studied many aspects of Chinese magic and alchemy.
