Synopsis

'An open door to the joyous world of singing.’ – Cerys Matthews

Nothing beats singing with other people, whether at a stadium concert, a big sports event, or in a choir. It’s a powerful, uplifting and joyful expression of our humanity. But singing together is much more than that.

James Sills is a vocal leader on a mission to get more people singing. It supports our mental, physical and emotional health; and when we sing with others, we form deep connections with ourselves, the people around us, and the present moment.

Do Sing is a guide to help reawaken a love of singing. In this book, you will:

  • learn simple exercises to improve breathing, posture and pitch
  • understand what might be holding you back
  • get started with a few familiar songs
  • compile the soundtrack to your life so far

Music is powerful and singing is cathartic. So, in the words of Bob Marley, let’s get together and feel alright.

À propos de l'auteur

James Sills is a musician and vocal leader who helps people experience the transformative power of singing. Over the last decade he has brought thousands of people together at events and gatherings around the world – from choirs to conferences, workshops to workplaces, festivals to football stadiums. Throughout his career, he has helped to create new and innovative ways for people to connect through singing. This includes founding Wrexham One Love Choir, Wales’s first homeless choir, and online singing community The Sofa Singers. In 2020, James was awarded a Points of Light award from the UK government in recognition of his work with The Sofa Singers to combat feelings of isolation during the pandemic.

As a facilitator, James regularly works with senior leaders at some of the world’s biggest companies using the singing experience to build connections, support wellbeing and spark joy. He has spoken at TEDx Manchester, the DO Lectures, One Track Minds and Creative Mornings. He is also a member of international a cappella troupe, the Spooky Men’s Chorale, with whom he performs at festivals around the world.

James lives in the hills in North Wales with his family and vinyl collection.
