Synopsis

Like every ancient culture, China has colourful stories and myths about a world full of gods and goddesses who interfere with our human world. China s long history has made the stories of their gods and the goddesses particularly rich, but also mysterious to other countries. According to very old books, Shen Tu and Yu Le were the most ancient of all the Door Gods who protect Chinese homes. They helped the Yellow Emperor to manage the Kingdom of Spirits and Ghosts under an enormous plum tree. The spirits were very afraid of the two gods, and also especially of golden roosters and tigers. In this story, a kind and good-hearted spirit makes friends with human villagers and helps the two Door Gods to discipline two mischievous bad spirits and so to restore order to the Kingdom of the Spirits.

À propos de l'auteur

Dong-mu-yu-tong majored in Visual Communication Design at university and worked as a film editor and art designer after graduating. With great curiosity and innocence in her mind Dong-mu-yu-tong enjoys exploring different presentation skills to express her idea of arts; she especially likes to demonstrate using freehand brushwork to bring audiences into the mood of her work because she believes feelings and imagination can be shown in a piece of painting as they are in a movie. Dong-mu-yu-tong has been inspired very much by children's arts and takes pleasure in discovering the meaning of fine arts with children. At Rain-Process-Approach Joint Exhibition 2010, Dong-mu-yu-tong first shared her work with the public in the Cultural Affairs Bureau in the local government of her hometown. Now in 2011, by combining classical literature with imaginative interpretation of Chinese spirit in paintings Dong-mu-yu-tong hopes to bring readers to a fresh way of seeing Chinese culture.
