Dividing Lines is a contempory novel telling the story of two men trapped in an elevator at a skyscraper in London called the Four Freedoms Tower . The protagonist Andy Baker is an advertising executive from Manchester in London on business and staying at the tower. The antagonist Khalid is an Islamic extremist and member of Al-Qaeda, who is planning on conducting a suicide bombing in London. The two men get in the lift early in the morning and the lift breaks down. The story follows both men s reaction to their situation and each other. We also flashback to key moments in each man s life until finally the lift drops to the ground. The book deals with the things that divide the human race, religion, politics, class, age, sexuality and nationality. And it asks what, if anything unites us as a species? Serving as a devastating and timely critique of the West it asks the question is there a better way of living? and without having the arrogance to answer it, Blower respectfully leaves this to the reader to make up their own mind.

Biographie de l'auteur

Neil Blower joined the army from school and served for five years with the Royal Tank Regiment, taking part on operations in Kosovo and the 2003 Invasion of Iraq. In 2004 he was diagnosed with PTSD and advised to do something creative to help with treatment. His first novel Shell Shock: The Diary of Tommy Atkins was written as part of a creative writing course used to help overcome PTSD with the assistance of the Forces mental welfare charity, Combat Stress. It was published by FireStep in 2011.
