Synopsis

Connections for Piano Book 2 by composer Christopher Norton is a piano solo sheet music collection featuring original repertoire in a variety of popular musical styles. Created for piano students and teachers seeking an engaging complement or alternative to traditional classical piano repertoire, this book presents carefully graded pieces that encourage musical development through stylistic variety. Suitable for individual study as well as group play-along activities, it offers an enjoyable way to broaden musical experience while building confidence at the keyboard.

The collection contains 25 original piano solo pieces presented across four contrasting style categories: swing, lyrical, latin, and character, providing a balanced selection of moods, rhythms, keys, and tempos. Professionally recorded accompaniment tracks, available separately from the series, reinforce each musical style while offering additional opportunities for practice, stylistic exploration, improvisation, and ensemble-style performance.

The carefully varied selection helps develop rhythmic awareness, expressive playing, stylistic understanding, articulation, phrasing, and musical interpretation while keeping practice fresh and motivating. Teachers can use the collection to introduce different contemporary styles within a structured learning programme, while students benefit from memorable original compositions that encourage expressive performance and continued progress.
